Should you install your new restoration hardware?
February 4, 2009

Restoration hardware can be easy or extremely difficult to install yourself, depending on your abilities, knowledge and the tools that you have to work with. Certain types of decorative hardware such as kitchen cabinet knobs and pulls can be quite simple and easy to install, while others like deadbolts and mortise locks used on your homes entry doors can be fairly hard.
I myself would prefer hiring a qualified trim carpenter or builder that already has the knowledge and tools to do a proper and neat job. There are many down-loadable installation instructions from various companies that even your carpenter will need to get the job done correctly. Remember that the entry door your going to have mortised is very expensive, so it would probably be best to leave have this job performed by a professional.
