Cabin intruder
January 4, 2009
I have access to a remote little cabin that I frequent during the summer months that sits in the heart of some of the most wild beautiful country in the heart of Alaska’s Brooks Range. The only problem that I encounter sometimes while visiting there, is rogue grizzly bears on the hunt for something tasty.
Hiking up to the cabin last week, I noticed that the front door was badly damaged but still shut. I knew instantly that a bear had tried to break it down because of all the claw marks that it had left. The hinges to the door were almost knocked loose, but thanks to the strong mortise lock, the bruin couldn’t gain entry. After securing the door with larger hinges, I felt much better now knowing that all was safe.
