Remember when you were about 8 or 9, and some idiot at school told you that there was no Santa Clause?  And then you thought that maybe you should ask your parents about it?  Well that’s just what happened to my boy last week and let me tell you, telling him the truth and basically trying to put it to him mildly how I had lied all those years was the hardest thing I ever had to do in a long time!

It was Christmas Eve that night when I finally got enough courage to sit him down and explain to him the facts of the ficticious Santa and his elves.  The both of us sat teary eyed for about an hour and were getting pretty sleepy, when there came a knock at the door. 

Looking through the panes of glass, you’ll never in your wildest dreams guess who was standing on the other side of the door!  Both our jaws dropped when this jolly old man dressed all in red decided to come right in, and after sitting down, proceeded to tell me a thing or to about telling the truth!  After a couple of ho ho ho’s, he told us that he was off to help another poor child with the same type of problem.  Boy, did I ever feel like a heel!

I still cant figure out why he didn’t use the door knocker.  Oh yeah, maybe because it was buried underneath the Christmas wreath that was hanging on the door!
