Hinge Strap, or Strap Hinge?
March 27, 2009You know those decorative hardware pieces that attach to the front of your door and look like old fashioned hinges? What exactly are those things called? It can be confusing for shoppers. How do you know what to search for and find exactly what you need.

A Hinge Strap Is a fake decorative front. It is not actually a functioning hinge. It is like an old pioneer false front building. It is to add character to the existing fixture. After all you would not want the door hinge exposed, for security purposes. A Strap hinge on the other hand is a hinge that is fixed to the face of the door instead of the side. The strap hinge is most commonly used on barns and gates.
Cabinet knobs and pulls should “feel” good
March 25, 2009
Cabinet knobs and pulls aren’t just to look at, so maybe your sense of touch might want to be considered when selecting new decorative hardware. Use your hands, get in there and touch all of the knobs and pulls before making a decision. A good grip is important, but I always like a thick handle that fills up the hand and with a good weight.
Buying cabinet knobs and pulls is a lot like buying a new car. You wouldn’t want to buy a car that just looked good on the outside; you would want to make sure that your car ran and was comfortable on the inside. Good cabinet knobs and pulls will not only look good, but they will also feel good in your hands, and they will with stand a lot of wear and tear.
So next time you buy cabinet knobs and pulls, make sure they are made of quality material and will not fall apart when you touch them.

And in this corner, some beautiful diamond shaped wrought iron cabinet pulls that comes in 9 different finishes and various lengths. And in the opposing corner stands some uniquely hammered round cabinet knobs that also comes in 9 different finishes and various diameters.
As each piece of decorative cabinet hardware fights for 1st. place, who do you think will win? The judges are picked from a panel of retail consumers just like yourself, so the winner will be the one who outshines the other from your deciding factors, whatever they may be.
Or maybe they’ll come out in a dead heat if you decide to use both of them on your kitchen cabinetry. It’s kind of neat if both come out as winners without any discrimination attached!

It had cabinet knob size eyeballs!
March 20, 2009
I’ never forget the day when I went fishing for northern pike on a small lake in Minnesota one warm afternoon. I had already caught 4 or 5 five pound northerns when something large took my 9 inch minnow that I was using for bait!
After setting the hook hard, I ended up with the fight of my life! Whatever it was, decided tp pull my boat about a mile across the lake as I tried desperately to land this monster of a fish! I finally won the battle as the big fish ended up being a 26 pound carp with eyes the size of cabinet knobs and 36 inches in length!
Not a prize catch by any means, but well worth the fight!

March 14, 2009
A parent that is always making sure that their children are safe from any source of danger is a loving instinct that is molded deep into each and every dad or mom naturally. Keeping our children away from any sort of danger whether at home or abroad can become a full time job, but with some of the new products that are made available now on the market, it’s a whole lot easier.
Childproofing your home should be a priority when thinking of your child’s safety. A good example would be those dangerous electrical outlets that should be plugged up with a safety device that prevents your little ones from receiving a fatal electrical shock. Or how about installing a childproof door knob on a certain piece of door hardware that might allow them access to something dangerous?
Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our children, so let’s keep them away from harm by adding some of those inexpensive safety devices to your home, then you’ll be able to breathe a little easier.
